Critical Transformations in Organizational Communication

Critical Transformations in Organizational Communication explores the transformative potential of critical inquiry in organizational communication.

The contributors of this edited volume challenge taken-for-granted ways of knowing to disrupt, decenter, or problematize what has emerged as normalized organizational or social practices. Blurring the boundaries between organizational communication and larger social issues, each chapter directs attention to relevant possibilities, new understandings, and alternative vocabularies capable of inspiring readers to consider different ways of acting and being. By disrupting the taken-for-granted aspects of organizational or social life, each chapter aims to reveal useful possibilities for transforming the ways we communicate and organize. Collectively, the chapters invite organizational researchers and practitioners to consider alternatives and discover different ways of interacting that can generate more supportive or productive futures.

This broad yet cohesive volume offers a unique and timely focus for critical organizational communication research. It will interest researchers, practitioners, and others curious about the transformative potential inherent in the critical exploration of communication and the ways we organize.
