Feminism across Differences in Literature and Film

Feminism across Differences in Literature and Film: Ecofeminism, Posthumanism, Ethics aims to cross academic and cultural borders by putting literature and film into dialogue, not only with each other but also with the most cutting-edge theories of our time. Linking feminist criticism with ecofeminism, affect theory, and posthumanism, the book fosters comparative and interdisciplinary approaches.

The volume offers comparative close-readings of works by Julia Alvarez, Maya Angelou, Gloria Anzaldúa, Jack Arnold, Merlinda Bobis, Simón Casal, Sandra Cisneros, John Clive, Karen Dinesen, Deniz Gamze Ergüven, Alex Garland, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Zora Neale Hurston, Gish Jen, Jamaica Kincaid, April Ayers Lawson, Meridel Le Sueur, Lorrie Moore, Erín Moure, Cristina Peri Rossi, Leslie Marmon Silko, Mark Twain, and Sylvia Wynter. Examining these works through affect theory, feminist literary and film criticism, ecofeminism, the ethics of care, philosophical posthumanism, and queer theory, the book introduces original concepts including "creative imagination," "dialogical posthumanism," "ecowomanism," "equality-in-difference," and "trans-imaginary space." Ultimately, it expresses the hope that ethical-aesthetic experiences can teach us to live in solidarity with each other and the so-called nonhuman.
