Jonathan Prince: Turning Material Into Meaning

For sculptor Jonathan Prince, art is not only a quest for science and technology, but also an ongoing exploration of spirituality. His monumental works strike a balance between precision and imperfection, the inevitable duality that characterises everything in life. Prince explores and respects the inherent qualities of the materials primarily steel and granite and employs these qualities with great care. The common thread running through his work? The rationality of the perfect form, deliberately eroded by raw emotion and then restored with tender care. This publication offers a unique overview of Prince's entire body of work, which has never before been presented in book form. The text by GLEAN's editor-in-chief, Kathleen Weyts, provides illuminating insights and adds depth.
