As everyone knows, honey badgers are very fierce and very intelligent. But few people realize they also enjoy classical music. Especially Henry. His favorite composer is Debussy. So when the renowned pianist Allen Spiceman is scheduled to perform Debussy at Maatlamotse Concert Hall, Henry asked Cassandra to get him a backstage VIP pass for the rehearsal and two performances.

But a brutal murder of a young waitress changed everything. Suspicion fell on the symphony orchestra's eccentric percussionist, Bjorn Snorkelson. The afternoon host at Radio Talk who billed himself as "The Conscience of the Country" launched a rabid campaign against the musician, dramatically raising public fear and his ratings.

Another brutal murder of a young waitress drove his ratings and public anger higher. He excoriated the police, and blamed Chief Inspector Cecil Richardson and the police commissioner for not arresting the Snorkelson. The commissioner calls Cassandra for legal advice. She send letters to the talk show host, Radio Talk management, and the prime minister warning the host that he is crossing the line between free speech into the territory of slander, defamation of character, and incitement to violence. The "Conscience of the Country" adds Cassandra to his list of targets.

After a third brutal attack, this time the murder of two waitresses, the Radio Talk host who bills himself as "The Conscience of the Country" called for vigilante action and the murder of the symphony's percussionist, Bjorn Snorkelson. The call for vigilante justice led to a shotgun attack that wounded the percussionist and two others. When Bjorn Snorkelson survived the attack, a young woman threw a Molotov cocktail through the window of his house.

The police knew almost nothing about the murderer except that he wore white boots and exudes a terrible stench. Cecil Richardson's remembrance of a long ago crime, gives a hint at a pattern. And that pattern suggested The murderer would soon strike again. The question was, could they find him before he butchered Victim Number Five?

Two commandos from Lt. Colonel Riley's group of snake eaters, Sergeant Smitty, a young Forest People soldier, and a drone geek called Pencilneck, join Henry to bring to bear the most sensitive olfactory data scanner on earth: Henry's nose.

And as in life, and as in all Henry's adventures, there's mayhem, madness, kindness, romance, humor, and plenty of action.
