Caught In Cleveland

Maggie had a plan—and for a while, it almost felt like it was working. Her life in sunny Florida wasn't glamorous, but it was hers: steady job, familiar routines, and Rick—the one person who made everything feel worthwhile. Even as she clung to the lower rungs of the corporate ladder, she believed that with him by her side, she could handle anything.
Until she couldn't.

When Rick dies without warning, Maggie's carefully balanced world collapses in an instant. Grief isn't the only thing she's forced to face—life has more upheaval in store. Suddenly, she's uprooted from everything she's ever known and dropped into Cleveland, a city that feels like the complete opposite of home. Gone are the warm breezes and bright colors of Florida, replaced by endless gray skies, biting cold, and a winter that seems determined to outstay its welcome.

Lost, out of place, and unsure of who she is without the life she planned, Maggie is just trying to get through each day. But survival has a funny way of turning into something more.

When she unexpectedly finds herself running a buckeye candy business, Maggie is thrown into a world she never imagined—one filled with chocolate, peanut butter, and people who slowly begin to crack through the walls she's built around herself. As she learns the delicate art of crafting the perfect buckeye, she also begins to piece together something even more fragile: a new version of her life.

Between awkward first steps in a new city, surprising friendships, and moments that challenge everything she thought she wanted, Maggie starts to realize that Cleveland might not just be a place she ended up—it might be a place she can grow.

Told with heart, humor, and just the right amount of sweetness, Caught in Cleveland is a story about loss, resilience, and unexpected reinvention. It's about finding yourself when everything familiar is stripped away—and discovering that sometimes, the places you never wanted to be are exactly where you're meant to land.
