The Other Side Of The Frontier

The book that turned Australian history inside out.

Forty-five years after The Other Side of the Frontier was first published, Henry Reynolds’ groundbreaking classic of Australian history is as relevant as ever.

Drawing from documentary and oral evidence, the book describes in meticulous and compelling detail the ways in which First Nations peoples responded to the arrival of Europeans. Reynolds’ argument that First Nations peoples resisted fiercely was highly original when it was first published and changed the way we understand Australian history.
