Robert Baines

Robert Baines, master goldsmith, blends ancient techniques with modern creativity. In Plenitude, he reinterprets history and mythology, showcasing his technical mastery and innovative artistry.

Robert Baines (b. 1949) is a master of his craft, a goldsmith whose work transcends time and tradition. Empowered by his extensive research into archaeometallurgy, his work connects the artistry and techniques of ancient Greek and Etruscan goldsmiths with modern-day innovation. His creations, infused with his wry humour and unparalleled technical brilliance, challenge our perceptions as much as they captivate the eye.

In Plenitude, Baines invites readers into his world, where ancient techniques are revived and re-imagined and where mythology is both respected and playfully deconstructed. This is not just a book; it is a glimpse into the mind of a goldsmith who sees history not as a relic but as a living, breathing source of endless inspiration.
