The Way Forward

Mental illness is sinister, it isn't fair, and its unforgiving nature can wreak havoc on both those living with it as well as their family and friends. Sometimes the signs are obvious, and sometimes it sneaks up as silent destroyer of life.
Follow the story of David King—young, smart, ambitious, a lawyer and Captain in the Army National Guard—as mental illness destroys the life he'd mapped out. Told from the personal experience of his older brother, David's story is accompanied by more than twenty additional true stories of people who from all walks of life who struggled with mental illness. Presented from a judicial standpoint and based on actual court cases overseen by Judge Alan King during his nineteen-year judicial career, these stories are a fascinating look at how mental illness impacts the lives of those living with mental health conditions, as well as the legal processes that can be involved.
This book and these stories were written with the hope that those who are suffering from any form of mental illness, as well as family and friends who are trying to understand what is happening, will gain some insight to confront the behavioral effects, and, if applicable, assist their loved one or friend(s) with empathy. Because for many people, there is a way forward.
