The Finnish-American Folk Witch

An often overlooked spiritual practice, Finnish magical traditions hold a uniquely rich and vibrant heritage. The Finnish-American Folk Witch is the first practical guide in English to uncover this lost system of magic, offering readers the tools to engage with Finland’s folklore and mythology.

This book introduces the foundations of Finnish magic in a way that is both approachable and profound. You will learn about the structure of the soul, spirit guides, shamanic traditions, and the gods, goddesses, and spirits of the Finnish pantheon. Explore working with the ancestors, harness the power of magical tools, and celebrate holy days sacred in Finland. Each chapter builds gradually, weaving a coherent and deeply personal magical practice.

Author Aili Marjatta Kerttu, a fourth-generation Finnish-American, delights in immersing herself in Finnish myth, folklore, and culture. Frustrated by the lack of accessible resources in English, she created the book she wished had existed at the beginning of her own journey. With clarity and respect for tradition, she opens the door to a system of magic rarely seen outside Finland, offering modern readers both knowledge and inspiration.

By drawing on ancestral wisdom and living traditions, this book gives witches, pagans, and seekers the opportunity to root their practice in one of Europe’s most mystical and overlooked traditions.
