Corey the Deadly Scientist

Corey Tutt is the CEO and founder of DeadlyScience, which promotes STEM for young First Nations people. In 2020, he was awarded NSW Young Australian of the Year and a Human Rights Hero by the Australian Human Rights Commission.

When Corey was little, he loved learning about anything and everything he could.

He liked observing the bugs in the yard.

He thought researching venomous snakes before bed was the best idea!

And he liked taking things apart (such as his toys) and putting them back together.

Even when Corey's friends said that 'science is boring' and his teachers suggested he play rugby instead, Corey wanted to become a scientist. The famous scientists didn't look like his people, but Corey's family told him science could look very different.

Corey the Deadly Scientist encourages kids not to give up on their passions. With Tori-Jay Mordey's lively illustrations and fun facts that accompany the story text, this a great way for young children to appreciate First Nations cultures and science in a modern context.

This book is perfect for:
- A gentle introduction to First Nations and science concepts that's suitable for preschoolers and primary school students.
- Reading to children who love animals, science and exploring outdoors.
- Enjoying Corey's adventures as he becomes a scientist, from monkeys that throw poo on him at the zoo to working in a lab.
