La Luna Sobre El Desierto

The music of Cristina Plaza, aka Daga Voladora, is an anomaly. When engaging with the sounds and the stories she tells, one senses that there is no pre-established hierarchy. Small joys, missteps, longings and misfortunes become a sort of emotional map, inviting us to reflect together and grasp those fleeting musical sparks that seem to vanish at the most unexpected moment. They are elusive melodies that play at leading us astray. Daga Voladora speaks to us in a language where the most ordinary things are sublimated and, at the same time, open up a huge chasm in our everyday lives from which an unknown dimension emerges. In “La luna sobre el desierto”, the songs are small mirages, traces she leaves behind of stories that are liminal spaces between reality and the strangeness of a world that seems weary of us, and which seeks to remain indifferent to so many megalomaniacal spokespeople. Brilliant melodies that she has spent a whole year weaving with the care of a skilled craftswoman, and which represent an even more dazzling follow-up to her previous album, “Los manantiales” (Lovemonk, 2024).
