Marschner: Pno Trios Vol. 3

Heinrich Marschner was the acknowledged master of German Romantic opera between the time of Weber and Wagner. He also composed piano trios throughout his career that were much admired by Robert Schumann. Situated between domestic performance and the professional concert hall, the trios reveal Marschner's fluent technique and accessible integrated themes. Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor is weighty, notably vocal in style, and rhythmically incisive. Though lighter than the earlier work, the Piano Trio No. 4 in D major is dynamic and full of clarity with a seamless distribution of themes.
