Habibi Funk 037 - Markab

After the success of their debut album Ghoyoum, Syrian-Lebanese duo Kazdoura return with Markab, their second album and first release with Habibi Funk. Following international tours, festival appearances and sold-out shows, the album arrives with two singles already out: “Taa,” featured in a COLORS Studios live session, and “And then?,” which has surpassed 200,000 Spotify streams already. Markab brings Arabic musical traditions into a groove-heavy, organic sound shaped by psychedelic and Anatolian rock, indie, jazz, Afrobeat and Gnawa. Arabic maqamat, microtonal melodies, warm guitars, live drums and prominent basslines sit at its core, with influences ranging from Altin Gün, Kit Sebastian, Men I trust to folk Arabic music. Across eight original compositions and two reinterpretations, Markab explores homeland, freedom and self-acceptance, marking a confident new chapter for Kazdoura.
