Jeffrey Kohler was born in Canton, Ohio. He went to school, graduated, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy that same year. In 2007, he received individual augmentee orders to the U.S. Army, specifically 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division-The Big Red One. After completing mobilization training, he deployed to Multi-National Security Transition CommandIraq-J6 (Communications) for 341 days.
After his deployment, he went on to get an education, find a job, and start a life. Along the way, he tried to save others from the experience he had, only to be silenced by the institutions he had fought to protect.
