Wildly successful and famously spiky, the actress is adored by her fans and loved by her lawyer husband, although they share an intense and complicated relationship. But as a trans woman she is traumatised by her painful childhood and she longs for a love that feels real, for someone to care for and a family she can feel at home in. She and her husband adopt a little boy and her desire to protect him is powerful and healing.
