The 1956 Complete British Albums Chart - The First Chart Year

This 45-track 2-CD collection comprises three selected titles from each of those albums to give a representative flavour of the content of the charts during its first year of operation. It makes for an interesting and varied selection of music, underlining the state of flux the pop landscape was in with the advent of rock ‘n’ roll in the pop charts during the previous year or more. This collection builds on Acrobat long-standing catalogue of annual “British Hit Parade” collections and our parallel “America’s Greatest Hits” sets, based on the singles charts in each market, and there will be subsequent collections for the years which followed.
