Arca is in a constant state of rebirth. With glitch as her medium, the Venezuelan-born, Barcelona- based musician, producer, vocalist and visual artist exists in multiple states simultaneously, like a pendulum swinging between extremes - not zeros or ones, but everything all at once.

Arca’s latest album XXXXX – her first in five years - breaks apart the enveloping, containing structures that characterised her previous albums, pursuing a more experimental, aggressive and darker sound. Initially conceived as a mixtape - the freer, more exploratory format of @@@@@ (2020) and &&&&& (2013) - it was repositioned into album territory, keeping the mixtape's spirit of exception and contradiction while subverting the format itself. The range on this record emotionally spans from very sweet to harrowing, and then everything in between.
