An artistic call to action: The radiance of fine arts at Mount Allison celebrates the vitality of Mount Allison University's Department of Fine Arts and its remarkable contribution to visual art and culture in Canada. The first of its kind in the country when it was founded in the mid-19th century, the department has welcomed and continues to welcome, as students and faculty, an impressive number of leading figures in the Canadian art world, including many pioneers such as Herménégilde Chiasson, Alex Colville, Michael de Adder, Evergon, Tom Forrestall, Lawren P. Harris, Susan Low-Beer, Danica Lundy, Christopher Pratt, Mary Pratt, and Janice Wright-Cheney.

This elegantly designed book features essays by curators and art historians Ray Cronin, Mireille Eagan, and Jane Tisdale on the history of fine and applied arts at Mount Allison. It also includes 350 reproductions of works by a wide variety of artists who have studied or taught at Mount Allison since the Fine Arts Department was established more than 170 years ago.
