'?????? ?????? ????????????????' finds likeable upstarts Joseph, Owen and Otis holding on for dear life as they navigate the precipice between careening kraut and wigged out jazz. A cheeky manifesto dictates the tone for this feat, as our lads drag the likes of Zappa, Tortoise and Holger Czukay with them over the lip of the waterfall. The resulting merriment - feline squeals, radiophonic shimmer and flutter, the undignified churn of tapes unspooling - is underpinned by a piston-like rhythm section that tugs and tows our barrel from one set of rapids to the next.
