Ian Carr is widely considered to be one of the best and most original guitarists of his generation. He has worked with many acclaimed musicians including Eddi Reader, Kate Rusby and Chris Wood (amongst many others). WHO HE? is his first album of abstract folk music with his band the Various Artists! Since the late eighties Ian Carr has been touring and recording innovative approaches to traditional music, working both with his own projects. Ian also writes music and his compositions have been performed and recorded by Sharon Shannon and Darrol Anger. WHO HE? is an eccentric, emotional album with many unexpected textures and sounds. Recorded in his studio in Dalarna, Sweden and featuring Ian´s band the Various Artists, an eclectic group of backing musicians, it is a perfect soundtrack to a summer vacation in the forests of Scandinavia. The Various Artists are Maria Jonsson (viola d´amore/ vocals), Laura Wilkie (violin/ vocals), Thomas Gibbs (piano/harmonium/ vocals), Kris Drever (electric/acoustic guitar/ mandolin/vocals), and James Lindsay (double bass).
