THE ARTIST. For most, the name Jobs is synonymous with richly blooming fabrics that have been among the classics of Swedish textile art since the 1940s. Less well known is that Lisbet Jobs (1909 61) and her sister Gocken Jobs (1914 95) first trained as potters. As two independent artists they then worked side by side and their works gained international fame. Rose and Lily was designed for textiles by Gocken Jobs in 1946. The pattern was composed in Leksand, Dalarna, where the sisters shared a studio. It is inspired by the surrounding flowering meadows and flower beds. Sketches for the pattern can be found in the National Museum's archives in Stockholm, Sweden. THE FINAL WORD.
