First published in 2011, Maritime Heritage of Konkan examines the rich maritime legacy of the Konkan region in India, spanning from the 2nd century B.C. to the 17th century A.D. For 150 years, this navy successfully countered the Siddhis, European trading powers, and pirates, reaching its peak under Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre. However, the defeat of his son Tulaji Angre in 1756 marked the end of Indian maritime dominance in the region.
