The original Buddy Guy Signature model was officially introduced in 1995, and it was mostly based on the guitar Buddy was playing around that period, which was a Custom Shop Eric Clapton model.

The story behind the polka-dot Strat is a young Buddy promised his mother that he would make more money than they ever dreamed of & someday drive a polka-dot Cadillac. His mother passed away in 1968, but years later Buddy approached Fender about making him a polka-dot Strat in her memory.
