This quirky mystery series follows DSS Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea), who arrives to the seemingly peaceful town of Brokenwood with a classic car, a country music collection, and an indeterminate number of ex-wives. His assistant, Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland), is a by-the-book investigator 15 years younger than her bosss car. Shepherd soon learns that Brokenwood is a place of secrets and suspicions, where everyone and everything is connected and where the serenity of the countryside can be shattered by violence and death.
