Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers – AKA Canberra-founded four-piece Anna Ryan (vocals), Scarlett McKahey (lead guitar), Neve van Boxsel (drummer), and Jaida Stephenson (bassist) – are unabashedly thrilled to share their second LP GLORY, an album they’re really fucking proud of.

GLORY is music to strut to. It’s part Skins, part 90s teen movie soundtrack. It’s the sound of getting the bus home after a night out, mascara smeared and battery on 1%. It’s bubble grunge, if that’s a thing. It’s about knowing your worth and not being afraid to take up space. It’s screeching, screaming, rumbling, fun and fierce. It’s an adrenaline shot to the arm, a Jagerbomb at the bar, the conspiratorial eye roll you share with a girlfriend when a loser guy is talking. It’s Cher Horowitz exclaiming “Ugh, as if!” in Clueless.

Set to bright, punchy, turn-the-volume-up indie-rock, the ten tracks on GLORY traverse confidence, disgust, infatuation and power. The album kicks down the door with ‘WATCHING ME LEAVE’, a song that flips the bird to every unsolicited stare you’ve ever received from a creep and a contemporary clap back to The Police’s 1983 track Every Step You Take – because one person’s romantic gaze is another’s gross threat. “I was looking away while you were smiling at me / You were asking my name while I was finding my seat / Every step that I take I know you’re watching me leave,” vocalist Anna Ryan belts out in lyrics that will feel immediately and viscerally familiar.

 Teen Jesus poured an incredible amount of time, talent, blood, sweat and tears into making GLORY. Helping bring it to life was legendary producer Catherine Marks, known for the Grammy-winning boygenius album as well as her work with the likes of PJ Harvey, The Editors, Foals, The Killers and more.

GLORY follows a hot streak for Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers. Since the release of their 2023 AIR Award-winning debut album, I Love You, the band have toured with Pearl Jam, sold out rooms around the country, won their first ARIA Award and earned multiple shortlist nods from APRA for their songwriting.

For Anna, Scarlett, Neve and Jaida – a band who’ve now been making music together for a decade, and are lifelong friends as well as intuitive collaborators – GLORY is their victory lap. It’s an album that is, as they tell it, “completely us”; the work of musicians who know exactly who they are, what they’re worth and what they want to create.
