Melbourne singer-songwriter Jen Frank is set to release her second EP, ‘Friend Zone’ through Wild At Heart Records. A bold evolution from her debut ‘Phone In The River’, 'Friend Zone' sees Jen’s pushing her sharp wit and emotional honesty to new heights. Across six genre-blending tracks, she explores power, agency, aging and body image, all with her signature punk-rock sass and 60’s inspired charm. ‘Friend Zone’s’ title track leads the charge with clever look at modern relationships, turning the table on traditional relationship power dynamics. Jen explores the strength in recognising when connections aren’t meant to flourish romantically. The EP is a fearless, heartfelt ride through vulnerability, humour and empowerment, making it a body of work both deeply personal and widely relatable. Jen’s tuneful voice can be both vulnerable and powerful. It’s this dynamic, coupled with her no-nonsense personality, that continues to shine through these toe-tapping songs. Produced at Audrey Studios by Craig Pilkington (The Killjoys), the EP features contributions by the emotive Jen Anderson (Weddings Parties Anything, Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows) on viola and violin, and the sublime Joanna Jones (Saint Ergo, Vox Populi) on backing vocals. The result is a richly textured, sonically diverse collection from 60’s surf-pop through anguished modern soul to indignant pop-rock. Melbourne-based artist Jen Frank is a 60s – 70s inspired vivacious, sassy singer-songwriter who brings a searingly direct, punk-folk authenticity to her performance. Jen fearlessly expresses the feelings we all bump into every day, writing and performing songs with a relatable, infectious energy. Jen draws inspiration from vocal powerhouses spanning generations—Blondie's punk edge, Cyndi Lauper's eccentric emotionality, Pink's unapologetic attitude, Aretha's soul-stirring conviction. Crafting something distinctly her own, Jen tackles contemporary issues confidently.
