In Our Gun

Once you've sold a couple of million albums you presumably enter that musical elite where the record company pretty much gives you free reign to produce anything your heart desires. In Our Gun is awash with musical tangents and the lead single 'Shot Shot', is a good indication of the busy-ness of this third studio effort - busy with meandering sax and touches of theremin. Meanwhile the track 'In Our Gun' is delicate fireside-strum-along-slacker like only Gomez know how. Bits of technology creep in like on 'Ruff Stuff' and 'Ping One Down'. 'Army Dub' is all studio skylarkery, 'Drench' has an amazing immediacy but it's still characteristically rootsy Gomez. Overall it’s a decidedly uncommercial affair - a slow burner which has, precedent says, served them well. It's a record which will - if you let it - seep into your liquid skin.
