Mike Finnegan and Liz DeHaan don't have a lot in common. Mike is a 65 year old newspaper man who's been demoted to the lonely hearts desk. The job's a bore, he's a grouch, and his 75 year old wife, who's sometimes lucid, sometimes not, is no consolation. Liz is a school teacher in her early 40s caught up in a dead-end love affair with a married mortician.
