This album mixes growling guitars, '60s soul, and straight up pop/rock. Singer/songwriter without the shoe-gazing self-absorption. The songs tell stories, it's as simple as that. Influences are Etta James, The Clash, U2, Ennio Morricone, Duke Ellington, '60s Stax and Motown, Cole Porter, songwriters like Elvis Costello, the Beatles, and Lyle Lovett, Crowded House, MC Solaar, Jessica Rabbit (ok, '40s torch songs).
