It was recorded in Fugazi Hall, San Francisco, California on October 21 and 22, 1959, but without an audience present. Monk was arguably his most fascinating when playing alone, as evidenced by "Thelonious Himself" ('57) and again by this 1959 LP. His relaxed, deeply thoughtful playing sounds rich and warm as recorded in San Francisco's Fugazi Hall: "Blue Monk, " "Ruby, My Dear, " "Reflections, " "Pannonica, " "Remember, " "Bluehawk, " "Round Lights" and more.
