The Inter-High is in full swing and Sakamichi Onoda and the Sohoku Bicycle Team are in high spirits after an early victory. Both hoping to take another early win, Makishima, the Peak Spider, and Hakones Mountain God, Toudou, clash to determine once and for all which of them is the star climber. And on the other side of the peak, the battle of the aces decides which team will be the victors on Day 1. But as night falls, Onoda and his teammates are crippled by illness, fatigue, and self-doubt.
