Alexander the Elephant in Zanzi bar is the beautiful accompanying soundtrack to the lushly illustrated children’s picture book of the same name, written by Australian rock musician/writer Pat Davern and award-winning illustrator/writer Martin Chatterton.

Follow Alexander, the somewhat nervous, red-ant sandwich-munching, pink and purple-spotted elephant through an adventure on his island home of Zanzibar with his best friend Miss Alicia Peabody, Alicia’s Clever Uncle Gerald and Pedro the parrot.

When dastardly loggers threaten The Great Tree of Zanzibar, Miss Alicia Peabody and Uncle Gerald help Alexander find the courage to stand up and be counted.

The narrated suite of original songs that accompany Alexander the Elephant have been recorded by some of Australia’s leading performing artists. These artists include Pete Murray, Connie Mitchell (Sneaky Sound System), Megan Washington, Channel 7‘s Tom Williams, and Fergus Linacre and Alex Laska of ARIA- nominated The Kingswood Band. In addition to writing and recording the tracks, Pat Davern can be heard as the voice of the narrator.

Pat Davern is an Aria award-winning musician, and previously nominated APRA songwriter of the year. He has sold over a million records worldwide as the guitarist in the band ‘Grinspoon’.

UK-born Martin Ed Chatterton has been illustrating and writing successfully for thirty years. His children’s books have been published in more than a dozen languages, and have won or been shortlisted in awards in the UK, US and Australia. He has illustrated books by some of the leading names in UK children’s literature including Antony Horowitz, Julia Donaldson and Michael Rosen. As ‘Ed Chatterton’, he writes adult crime fiction and his series featuring DI Frank Keane is in development with Escapade Media/Lionsgate. Middle School: Rafe’s Aussie Adventure – a collaboration as co-writer (and illustrator) with the world’s best-selling author, James Patterson, published by Penguin Random House in May.
