In the words of Bruce Elder, Dewayne Everettsmith has "the soul of Marvin Gaye and the sunny beauty of Johnny Nash". His song IT'S LIKE LOVE was chosen as the soundtrack to Tourism Australia’s $250 million international advertising campaign. Dewayne is an Aboriginal Health worker in Hobart, and his roots are deeply connected to the Aboriginal communities of Tasmania and southeast Victoria. He was recently recognised with a Human Rights Week award - for bringing Tasmanian Aboriginal culture and language to the broader community, educating children and working to protect his Aboriginal heritage. Dewayne has supported Gurrumul on a National and European tour (2011), and performed a private show for Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, and her entourage. His debut album features the first commercial recording of a Tasmanian Indigenous language song.
