A quiz show in which two contestants pit their lexical dexterity and numerical agility against each other and the clock. A half hour program airing weeknights, contestants from all walks of life compete in a series of letter and number challenges that showcase their impressive numerical and vocabulary talents. A truly interactive format, viewers have the opportunity to play along and sharpen their skills. Letters and Numbers is based on the hugely successful global quiz format Des chiffres et des lettres. Televised in France since 1965 and in the UK under the name Countdown since 1982, the format is a proven success. Hosted by Richard Morecroft and assisted by the mathematically minded Lily Serna and word worshipping David Astle, each episode features a mixture of letter and numbers rounds and a final conundrum.
