Guwak is the extraordinary debut album from East Journey; a young Aboriginal band from the Yolngu homelands in North East Arnhem land. Their inspiration and material is drawn from ceremonial song poetry, traditional melodies and instruments and, through guidance and encouragement from their old people, it is fused with western musical traditions to create what they call 'saltwater reggae'. Front man Rrawun Maymuru is a star on the rise having picked up the award for best emerging talent at the National Indigenous Music Awards in 2012.
