Sheffield, England garnered a worldwide reputation for steel production during the boom time of the industrial revolution, earning itself the nickname "Steel City". One only has to hear the opening moments of While She Sleeps "The North Stands For Nothing" to know that the character of Sheffield, the band's hometown, has permeated them to the core. While She Sleeps formed with a blue collar and hard nosed work ethic that resulted in them playing close to 300 shows across the UK and mainland Europe. It is this ethic that has grabbed the attention of the press, radio, festivals and TV worldwide.'The North Stands For Nothing' has received critical acclaim from the likes of Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Rock Sound and Revolver. Their songs and videos have also received highly sought after spins from the likes of BBC Radio One, XFM, Total Rock, Scuzz, and Kerrang TV. As their profile began to ascend, the opportunities being presented grew bigger accordingly. They completed a Live session For Radio One's Rock show at Maida Vale studios and were invited to play at this years Sonisphere festival.
Throughout the past year the band have supported many acts including Bring Me The Horizon, Silverstein, Your Demise and played high profile slots and a number of festivals including Hevy, Slam Dunk, Grasspop and Groezrock. Having amassed an impressive string of accomplishments in the UK and mainland Europe, While She Sleeps were picked up in the US and Canada by Good Fight Music (The Chariot, Cancer Bats) and have now inked a deal with Shock for Australia and New Zealand. The band enter the studio in November to record their new record with Carl Bown and Colin Richardson (Trivium, Machine Head). Before the new album drops in early 2012, Shock is proud to release a local version of The North Stands For Nothing mini-album with a special bonus track be(lie)ve on December 9th to introduce the band locally.
