The album features classics like ‘The Seabirds’ – inspired by David’s dice with drowning, swimming to an island when he had a hangover; ‘Chicken Killer’ which he ‘wanted… to be about a village idiot’ and the dramatic ‘Stolen Property’ which underwent nine rewrites before the album version blossomed. And then, of course, there’s the classic ‘Wide Open Road’: the group made the mistake of putting a wide open road in the video for the single, leading people to assume it was about a road.
