5 Go To Movies For 2021... So Far

A Quiet Place Part II

Continuing from the previous film, with their shelter and base destroyed, the Abbott family have no choice but to pack up some remaining items and walk outside into the world once again. But it is not long until they find themselves in more danger and challenges to overcome.  Thankfully, the family do find shelter with a lonely man all alone inside, filled with hurt and suffering from all the previous events.  But the question is, can this new stranger be trusted?

As a sequel, A Quiet Place Part II delivers wonderful moments of suspense, thrills and suspense. The plot is filled with unpredictability and extends both the world and its characters from the previous films. Performances are again incredible. The film's audio track alone will have movie lovers take a deep breath as if they are strapped in for a wild ride. As a sequel, this is far from just another cash grab, and it has a great plot and a strong element of passion and heart behind it.  As a sequel, it is also honourable to those who loved the first film.  A Quiet Place Part II is a must-own.

The Dry

Based on the well-known novel.  Aaron Falk (Eric Bana) is a detective from Melbourne, Australia. He receives news that one of his childhood friends has sadly committed suicide and murdered his own family. Aaron returns to his hometown to pay his respects, but what he hoped would be a quick and snappy visit back home instead turns into helping with the current investigation.

The Dry is an excellent film that introduces many mysteries and thrills, and the outcomes are never predictable from start to finish. With a tremendous setup, this Australian film hooks its audience relatively quickly and takes them on an unforgettable murder mystery with twists. Eric Bana, as the lead, is excellent, and his character is also quite likeable. For an Australian film, this most certainly deserves more attention.

In The Heights

Usnavi de la Vega (Anthony Ramos) owns a tiny grocery store, and each day he saves every cent he earns towards his dream destination. He dreams of one day leaving New York and setting up his own business in the Dominican Republic.  Daily he connects with many people in Washington Heights, including the gorgeous Vanessa (Melissa Barrera), who Usnavi fails to talk to due to his nerves.  As Usnavi shares about how he got to his dream, he also reveals the story of many others from Washington Heights who also have dreams regarding careers, life, and love.

In The Heights, the film delivers a fun time, and audiences feel like they are always involved with parties and dancing on screen. The pacing is solid, and the music is undoubtedly entertaining right from the start of the film. I had a great time watching this film, and I can highly recommend movie lovers wear a comfortable pair of dancing shoes because it is hard to sit still when you're watching this film as it comes to life.  Also, be sure to stay after the film's credits for a pleasing surprise.

Zack Snyder's Justice League

Continuing from Batman V Superman, the entire world continues to mourn over the tragic loss of Superman. Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) has enormous concerns about the safety of all people on Earth. Joining with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), they begin to investigate a new enemy who shows up causing trouble, and the two begin to enlist new metahumans who might be able to help and save the day once more.

I am incredibly thankful to witness this updated version from director Zack Snyder. We get to see his Justice League cut the way it was meant to be. The film itself is a massive improvement from the previous release.  With greater depth given to all characters and the storyline, the film truly exceeded my expectations.

Nobody

One night, two thieves break into Hutch's home while his loving family are in bed. Hutch hesitates at defending and protecting his family, and the two crooks run off, leaving him feeling annoyed and frustrated for letting his family down. But it turns out that Hutch has skills, which are about to be unleashed. He equips himself with weapons and a thirst for revenge and heads out to take on anyone who stands in his way, including those who threaten his loved one.

Nobody delivers what the movie wanted, which is a fabulous time. The film provides brainless action, which is fun from the start. Actor Ben Odenkirk is surprising as an action star and delivers incredible stunts and fun humour. Nobody is a fun film many will enjoy and is highly recommended for those seeking films similar to John Wick.
