Peter Sculthorpe, whose death in August 2014 was mourned throughout the musical world, was the leading Australian composer of his generation.

In this DVD, filmed on the occasion of the composer's 83rd birthday in 2012, Sculthorpe tells the story of his life and career, relating it to his ground-breaking string quartets – live performances of which intersperse the film.
