ARIA Award & 6 time Golden Guitar winners – and Australia's favourite bluegrass/country/folk band of the '80s - are back for with their first ever 'Best of' and live shows in 2014!

'The Collection 1984-1990' features 22 remastered tracks - including rarities & unreleased gems – as well as detailed liner notes by legendary SMH music writer Bruce Elder, producer Mark Moffatt and the band.

During the 1980s Sydney's Flying Emus took the Australian music scene by storm. Forming in Sydney with the intention of playing a new form of country music, they wrote songs about modern Australia – flood, drought, love and city life – and combined a wide range of musical influences, from Bluegrass and Folk to Pop and Western Swing. 'The Collection 1984-1990' features tracks from the band's five albums, as well as a number of rarities and unreleased gems. Alongside much loved band originals like 'This Town' and 'It's A Sunburnt Country' the album features superb covers of material by the likes of Rodney Crowell, Michael Nesmith and Bill Monroe.

Between them, the members of Flying Emus - John Kane, Genni Kane, Ian Simpson, Mike Kerin and Michael Vidale - represent a very large slice of Australian bluegrass, country and folk music history, with credits including Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers, Don Walker, The Whitlams, Keith Urban, and Slim Dusty.
