To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic Australian label Mushroom Records, Warner Music Australia presents a great new compilation, Mushroom40: Rock!

Mushroom40: Rock lives up to its title with 40 tracks from the past 40 years, focusing on the rock side of Mushroom’s heritage. It begins with classic early hits from the likes of Matt Taylor, Madder Lake and mid-70's breakthrough mega-hits from Skyhooks and Ol’55. It moves through the late 70's (Split Enz, Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons), into the early 80's (Sunnyboys, Models, Hunters & Collectors), mid and late-80's (Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Choirboys), into the 90's and beyond (Bad Loves, 28 Days, Eskimo Joe).

Mushroom40: Rock also features a number of rarities for collectors, including the first ever reissue of Lucille by seminal early ‘70s Melbourne outfit Friends (one of two 7” singles released simultaneously in early ’73 to launch the label), Russell Morris & The Rubes’ hit Hush, and the non-album original hit single recording of Sports’ Who Listens To the Radio?

This release was preceded by the release of three early Mushroom album titles in upgraded editions - the seminal 1974 Chain compilation The History of Chain, the 1978 Madder Lake compilation The Best of Madder Lake, and the collectable 1974 album First Offense by Perth/Melbourne blues rock outfit Sid Rumpo. All titles have been mastered from original tapes, and include a handful of bonus tracks as well as liner notes.
