Decibel Magazine reviewed the EP, writing, "Atlanta's burgeoning extreme metal scene got even stronger the day that guitarist Jason Schwartzwalder parted ways with death metal heroes Brutality and moved from Tampa back to his home in Georgia joined by session drummer Jeramie Kling and created Mother's Tomb... Absent Not Dead, which is dedicated to Jason's cousin, Damon Matthew Card, was murdered in his in his Savannah home on January 29 2016. In the words of the title track, "absent from sight, not dead in memory."
