A feast of psychedelic Latin rock by the Key Brothers, released as a re-released LP after 52 years!!

At the dawn of Korean rock music,
there was a time when the distinction between an orchestra and a singer was clearly divided. This distinction began to disintegrate with the success of vocal and instrumental rock 'n' roll bands such as the Beatles. In Korea in the early 1960s, Key Boys, Add4, and Elephant Brothers, who had strengthened their skills as a vocal combo band at the 8th Army Show, were stretching to advance to the general stage. In 1964, Key Boys and Add Four made their record debut, and the work of popularizing rock music in Korea began in earnest.
If there was a formidable frontman named Shin Ji-hyeon in Add4, there was Yoon Hang-ki, a naturally gifted talent, in Key Voice. In 1963, Yoon Hang-ki (drums), who formed Key Voice with Cha Do-gyun (bass, vocals), Cha Jung-rak (vocals), Ok Seong-bin (keyboards), and Kim Hong-tak (guitar), was introduced by Kim Hee-gap, the head of the show band, and was an early member of the 8th Army's 'A One Show'. ' He was a person who developed his talent as an entertainer while on stage.
After leaving Key Boys in 1967, Yoon Hang-gi sets up a separate performance troupe and embarks on a consolation performance in Vietnam. Cha Do-gyun, Cha Jung-rak, and Kim Hong-tak also left the band in turn. Cha Do-kyun became a member of the band 'Guys And Dolls', Cha Jung-rak chose the route as a solo singer, and Kim Hong-tak advocated psychedelic rock. They form 'He5'. And the Key Voice, which members left, will be reorganized with Jo Yeong-jo (guitar) and Jang-yeong (bass guitar) from 'Elephant Brothers' as the main axis.

A New Wave of Korean Rock
The year 1970 was a year in which the new 'key boys' performed well. and recorded unprecedented hits and received national love. This was also a stimulus to the original members Kim Hong-tak and Yoon Hang-ki. Kim Hong-tak set up a new signboard with 'He6', which reinforced members from 'Hi-Five', and Yoon Hang-gi, who returned from Vietnam and worked with the later Key Boys members for a while, created 'Key Brothers'. I was peeking at the timing of the formation and resurgence.
At the time, Western music fans were enthusiastic about Latin rock's 'Santana'. Santana introduced original and innovative music called Latin rock through the Woodstock Festival in 1969, and instantly captivated music fans around the world. Groups that imitated their sound appeared one by one in Korea, a country on the periphery. In particular, the topic of Korean popular music in 1971-72 was 'Santana'. It is not an exaggeration to say that many related albums (including Back Edition) have been poured out. Hisix and the Trippers's cover songs were included in the album side by side, and the new band Big 5 performed Santana's performance song under the title of .perfectly reproduced.
Composer/arranger and guitarist Kim Hee-gap also released an instrumental album close to Latin rock with strong guitar sound and splendid percussion. Latin rock is music that doubles the groove and sense of speed by adding percussion instruments such as conga, guiro, and bongo to the general rock band composition of guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards.

Korea's first Latin rock band, Key Brothers' first album «Let's Dance GOGO»
Released on March 21, 1971, this album is a monumental work that marks the beginning of Korean-style Latin rock and a new inflection point for lead vocalist Yoon Hang-gi as a musician. has become Yoon Hang-ki put more emphasis on cover songs than original songs, but unlike other bands that focused on overseas adaptations, Shin Jung-hyun's hit song was transformed into Latin rock and succeeded in gaining sympathy from the public.
is a song that harmonizes the psychedelic arrangement with the dynamic percussion of the Latin percussion. Yoon Hang-ki's first self-composed song, , is a slow rock tempo song with an exotic melody and tragic lyrics. Santana's,, which is a medley arrangement of and , is a classic Latin rock song that the Key Brothers are aiming for.
After the release of this album, the Key Brothers tried to transform themselves into brass rock bands such as 'Blood, Sweat & Tears' and 'Chicago' by reinforcing wind instrument players. Key Brothers Special] (1971), 3rd album «Yoon Hang-gi and Key Brothers»(1973) are the last to finish official activities. (The title of the album follows the notation at the time of release)
Yoon Hang-gi, who declared independence as a full-fledged solo singer in 1974, released a number of hit songs such as , , and . He converted to Christianity in 1978, and from 1990 he began to walk the path of a full-fledged pastor. On the other hand, the Key Brothers, without Yoon Hang-ki, presents re-released works such as (1977) and the split album (1979), but they taste commercial failures due to public indifference. .

LP format reissue realized after 52 years
At the time of the initial release, the production company marked the album title as 'Key Voice Special Collection/Rock and Key Voice (hereinafter referred to as Key Voice)' instead of 'Key Brothers' to take advantage of the existing awareness. Of course, Key Voices objected, and eventually the case was settled by correcting the notation as 'Key Brothers' after bilateral agreement. As a result, a total of four versions of the Key Brothers' debut album have been confirmed so far. The fact that the three versions of the 'key voice notation board', called the early stage, are mixed is a part that can gauge the popularity of this album at the time. For ease of understanding, we have classified them by version as follows.
- Early stage: Key voice notation. , titles (calligraphic font). Front and back covers of the same image. Blue label
- Jaeban: key voice notation. , , Titles (Gothic font). New design back cover. Blue label
- Samban: key voice notation. gray label. Same as other Jaeban
- Saban: Marked by Key Brothers. Orange Label

So far, LP collectors' interest in this album has been hot. It is true that there were frequent requests for re-release, as it contained a performance comparable to the psychedelic masterpieces of the time, along with a colorful cover design in primary colors that stimulated possessiveness.
There was a CD reissue in 2003, but this is the first time it has been restored to LP format. In order to reproduce faithfully to the original, the image of the original early stage engraved with the phrase 'Key Voice Special Collection/Rock and Key Voice' was used. Due to the LP re-release of the Key Brothers debut album, which was rarely encountered, it was possible to piece together a piece of the puzzle of Korean rock music in the 1970s that had been left blank. It is hoped that this re-release will serve as an opportunity to shed new light on the music of the legendary band 'Key Brothers', which encompassed psychedelic, Latin rock and brass rock. / Yoon Jun-ho (Author of «Licensed LP Chronicles», CEO of Popular Music
