He developed an appreciation for music early on and at the age of ten he began writing songs, playing guitar and eventually found himself performing in local bands throughout high school. Upon graduation, Steve traveled quite a bit, until he fell in love with Hawaii where he lived for over two years. It was there that he honed his songwriting and began playing the mandolin and steel guitar, which he plays on this record. In addition, he plays banjo on the record as well.

Along with David Olivas on saxophone and piano, Steve Dress on bass and Tim Jimenez on drums, a few other special guests join in to complete the joyous, short-but-sweet album. With a legion of fans across the country, as a result of heavy touring, a strong Internet presence has helped solidify Carlson's fan-base.
