Incredible new album from San Francisco outfit Two Gallants! The Australian and New Zealand release of the albums includes two bonus tracks – covers of I’m so Depressed by Abner Jay, and Blind Willie Johnson’s Dyin' Crapshooter's Blues.
The album is the San Francisco band’s first release in five years and will be their first album to be worked here. In the US, it is their first on ATO, where they’ll be label mates with the Alabama Shakes, Dawes, My Morning Jacket and others. The album is a magnificent and powerful work that will take the band to a new level internationally. Produced by John Congleton (The Walkmen, Explosions In The Sky, St. Vincent) at Berkeley’s legendary Fantasy Studios and in San Francisco’s Tiny Telephone studio, the album moves away from Two Gallants’ more folk and blues-based past, representing the duo’s ferocious live show and their past steeped in punk and grunge.
Two Gallants comprise Adam Stephens on guitar, harmonica and vocals and Tyson Vogel on drums and vocals. Friends since they were five, the band grew up playing music together, from early teen-age house parties in their hometown of San Francisco, to multiple world tours. Of course the touring is set to start again: they are to perform at the sold-out Monterey, CA leg of the Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover (with Mumford & Sons and others) on August 25th, leading up to their official US tour.
