Mondo Rock Chemistry Vinyl

The Chemistry album solidified Mondo Rock’s reputation as a hit-making machine. Released in August 1981, the record soared to number two on the Australian charts and was declared Best Australian Album of 1981 at the Countdown Awards.

It was the glory days of pub rock, but Mondo Rock stood out from the crowd with their sophisticated pop sound. The title track was written by guitarist Eric McCusker, who also contributed the classic ballad ‘State Of The Heart’, which was Chemistry’s first single and Mondo Rock’s first Top 10 hit.

Singer Ross Wilson wrote the album’s second Top 10 hit, ‘Cool World’, and was also responsible for the Mondo Rock manifesto ‘Mondo Sexo’. Chemistry also features the live favourite ‘Step Up, Step Out’; yet another Top 40 hit in ‘Summer of ’81’, plus another beautiful ballad, ‘We’re No Angels’, which was later covered by John Farnham. This is a classic Australian album.
