Sydney’s Dean Lewis has announced today that his debut EP Same Kind of Different will be released on Friday April 28. The six track EP will include his new single ‘Need You Now’ and the global hit ‘Waves’.
Lewis has had a phenomenal start to the year. Fresh from wrapping up his European tour with indie darling Lisa Mitchell the auspicious singer-songwriter went on to perform 7 sold out shows as part of the 7 Layers tour in Belgium and the Netherlands capturing the attention of new fans across the globe.
Recorded with Edd Holloway and Nick Atkinson (Gabrielle Aplin) and mixed by Dan Grech (Halsey, Josef Salvat) Same Kind of Different EP opens with the haunting and cathedral-like ‘Waves’ and also includes songs recorded with John Castle (Vance Joy, Paul Kelly). The sparks that flew between the two were too good to ignore. “I wrote ‘Lose My Mind’ after a break up, really just exploring that feeling of how when you lose somebody, you go crazy,” says Lewis. “I took it into John, and it was just meant to be a test, sort of to see if we could work together. A day-and-a-half later, we were both like, ‘Hell yeah, we can work together!’” “Chemicals”, a song Lewis wrote earlier was also recorded with Castle which is one of five new songs that make for an incredible introduction to Dean Lewis.
The announcement of the release of Dean’s debut EP comes hot off the heels of his first shows supporting Boo Seeka and his recent addition to the UK’s Great Escape Festival. 2017 continues to be a huge year for Dean Lewis, catch him live on the following dates including his performance at Groovin’ The Moo in Maitland.
