The History of North Melbourne Football Club
Originally formed under the name of Hotham in 1869, North Melbourne is the 4th oldest of the AFL clubs. After admission into the VFL in 1925 success was a long time coming. It took 50 years to win a Premiership but it was worth the wait. The 1970s was Norths first golden era, playing in six consecutive Grand Finals for two Premierships and three Brownlow Medals. The 1980s was all about the magic Krakouer Brothers and the artistry of Glenndinning. Denis Pagan took control of a young team that he had moulded as former U19s coach. Boasting the greatest player of all time Wayne Carey, this squad took the game to new heights under the national glare of Friday night lights, winning two day & two night premierships they were anointed The Team of the Nineties. The new Century has seen many changes to the way the game is played and run. With state of the art facilities, a fresh administration, a new Coach in Brad Scott and a exciting young team led by Brent Harvey boasting Ziebell, Cunnington, Bastinac and Grima. The future is now for the Mighty Rooboys. So Join in the Chorus . . . this is the visual history of North Melbourne Football Club, narrated by former North great, Sam Kekovich.
