Join Aled Jones on a journey through some of classical music's most important destinations
Join well-known BBC personality Aled Jones on an unforgettable journey in the new series of Classical Destinations. Having performed as a singer from a young age, he brings passion, enthusiasm and an understanding of classical music as host. We'll explore the dreams, dramas and musical triumphs of some of the worlds greatest composers. Aled shows us around Wales, his home land and then takes us on a scenic river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam, stopping at all the cities and towns where so many of the worlds great composers lived, worked and composed Vienna, Linz, Melk, Salzburg, Bratislava, Bonn, Cologne, Bayreuth and the wonderfully picturesque historic German towns of the Rhine River and Rhine Gorge. Much of the worlds greatest classical music was inspired by the scenery along these magnificent European rivers the Danube, the Main and the Rhine. Then, much further afield, we also delve into the less well-known world of Australian classical music with the eccentric but immensely passionate Percy Grainger. This promises to be quite a journey!
