Set in 1965 Thats What I Am is a coming-of-age story which follows 12-year-old Andy Nichol (Chase Ellison), a bright student who is put to the test when his English teacher Mr. Simon (Ed Harris), pairs him up on a project with the schools biggest outcast, Stanley. Andy watches as Stanley fearlessly confronts a school bully, which triggers a series of events that will change the lives of both young men - and their teacher - forever. Not only does Andy discover being different is acceptable, but most importantly, he starts to understand the value of tolerance.
